Most classes this session begin the week of October 21st, and end the week of December 2nd.
This session has 6 class meetings over 7 weeks (skipping the week of November 25th - Thanksgiving week). The two exceptions to this are both of Bea’s handbuilding classes, (Mondays 1-4pm and 5:30-8:30pm) which run consecutively, starting the week of October 28th.
Classes meet once a week for 3 hours. Tuition covers a bag of clay, a 2 by 4 foot personal shelf, use of glazes, tools, studio equipment, and access to over 45 hours per week of open studio time. Additional clay may be purchased through the studio.
Intro classes
Learn wheel throwing basics in this structured class. Beginning with centering clay, each week progresses students through the process of making functional pottery. These Intro classes are designed for those with no experience with clay, but will be valuable to anyone looking to build a solid foundation in a systematic way.
Intro and Open Handbuilding classes
Handbuilding with a focus on pinching and coiling building methods. Students will learn the basics of clay and be given demonstrations on how to build various functional vessels. The classes will also go over different types of surface decoration using slips and glazes. Bea’s classes are suitable for all levels and Devin’s are tiered - Intro and Intermediate!
Open classes
These open-ended wheel throwing classes are for those who have experience with the basics of throwing. Each class will open with a demonstration or two, but students are encouraged to work on whatever inspires them, with the teacher there to offer guidance, critique, or teach new skills.
